Nokia files new case against Apple with ITC


Nokia has filed another complaint alleging that rival Apple infringes its patents in iPads, iPhones and other products with the trade panel of U.S. The country’s international trade commission judge ruled that the U.S Company did not violate any of the 5 copyrights of Nokia and hence Apple won a round in its copyright fight with Nokia. Nokia said that it was waiting to see the full details of the ruling before deciding on the next steps in that case and does not agree with the initial determination of ITC. There is a significant degree of frustration is there through the announcement of Nokia. Florian Mueller and independent specialist and blogger in the copyright battles said that Nokia is sending out an unambiguous and strong message more than anything else at the end of this epic battle Apple should send royalty checks to Finland. In the cell phone industry the legal battles have become increasingly common since Google and Apple carved out a large chunk of the quickly expanding and lucrative Smartphone market at the expense of the older players.  Apple shares were 0.2 percent lower and Nokia Shares were 0.9 Percent lower by 1415 GMT.

Geoff Blaber analyst at British Consultancy CCS insight said that this is not highlights, the complexity and importance of intellectual property issues in mobile and also underlines that there is any swift settlement unlikely. Nokia filed a new case which is related to seven copyright areas like data synchronization, call quality, multi tasking operating systems and the use of Bluetooth accessories. Paul Melin the vice president of Nokia, intellectual property said in is statement that theory latest ITC filing was the 46th Nokia Patents suit against Apple many of the suits has been filed before 10 years before Apple made its first iPhone. The courts in the United States, Germany, Britain and Netherlands have heard the legal disputes between the 2 technology groups. Steven Nathasingh the chief executive of U.S research from Vaxa Inc said that Apple has become an unstoppable force in 2 mobile segments that Nokia missed content and smart phones.  Nokia has asked to bar the importation Apple devices that infringe Nokia patents in its compliant to the trade panel cited particularly the iPhone 3GS mobile phone and iPod nano portable music player. This has created a storm in the field of technology.
