In a new interview with Black Book magazine, the 26-year-old British star, addresses the rumor mill and some of the more ridiculous claims that he and Stewart are about to tie the knot.
“There was a magazine, with these pictures, saying I was getting married. No one ever knows what is true or what isn’t,” the exasperated actor told BlackBook. “Even my own mum called to ask me if it was true.”
There will always be rumors that come out of left field, but Pattinson laments that even when asked direct questions, his words are often twisted.
“You try to say things in the perfect way but you know unless you say something stupid, from which people will make you look like a dick, you’re not going to have sound bites. And if you don’t say anything stupid, someone’s going to make something up anyways,” he explained to the magazine.
It’s not surprising that false rumors about the actor and Stewart are always swirling, given that he refuses to talk about his personal life:
“My private life is off-limit. I’ve never spoken about my flirts, I’m not a man for short and superficial love affairs. I don’t talk about my relationships with female friends, not to mention how I don’t talk about my relationship with Kristen Stewart, an actress I admire because she’s a real person, and a real actress,” he told Italy’s Stylemagazine in March 2011.
The actor, who stars in the upcoming film “Cosmopolis,” directed by David Cronenberg, did admit to BlackBook that after seeing how the rumor mill works he tried to start a few of his own:
“I once started a rumor on ‘Entertainment Tonight’ that there was a deleted scat sex scene in ‘Twilight’ and it didn’t even get picked up. I thought, ‘What the f**k? I’m giving you this stuff!'” he said.
